Choosing Our Wedding Photographer
Disclaimer: This is what my brain looks like right now, “I can’t believe I’m posting this. I can’t believe I’m posting this. I can’t believe I’m posting this…” So now that you know how embarrassing this video is, let’s get started.
When Austin proposed, I hadn’t given much thought about the actual wedding… we had lived in so many different places and so far apart from each other that I was just excited that we were together. for good. If I’m being completely honest, I dreaded the thought of planning a wedding. The money, the time, the drama – I didn’t want any of it. As far as my wedding goes, there was only one thing that I wanted (aside from the part where I get to marry Austin) and that was to have Katelyn James as my wedding photographer.
Ever since my friend Emily introduced me to Katelyn’s blog five years ago, I was absolutely hooked. Katelyn is my IDOL Her work is incredible and her entire persona is so endearing – when you read her blog you feel like she’s been your friend forever. Your photographer is by your side your ENTIRE wedding day, and I knew she was the photographer I wanted there with me. I’ve never met her, but I have complete trust in her on our big day. (Side note: I will probably have a giant fan girl moment when I actually meet her. Hyperventilating. Tears. You know.. that sort of thing. ;)
Katelyn actually had an amazingly generous giveaway last year. I almost felt too guilty to enter because we don’t have some crazy love-defies-all-odds story, but what if I completely missed my only opportunity to book her? I would never live it down if we lost the chance to at least enter and so, we made our entry video for her contest at the very last second. (Spoiler alert: We didn’t win, but that’s totally okay. :)
We waited a few more months before emailing Katelyn about our wedding. I meant what I said in our video – I was 100% willing to set our wedding date according to Katelyn’s availability… so that’s exactly what we did! We may not have won the contest, but I feel like we won in so many other ways. I feel so blessed and so fortunate that I get to marry my best friend (I’m sorry for how cliche that sounds, but its true!) and that Katelyn will be there to experience it with us and help us remember it forever.
Every bride and groom will have one thing at the top of their list. For some it might be the dress, the church, the music… Whatever that “thing” is, I truly hope every bride and groom gets to feel just as giddy about it as I do whenever I get to tell people that Katelyn James is my wedding photographer!! Its the best feeling ever. :)
And now you get to see why I don’t post videos! haha ;)
Enjoy!
